"Love is a negotiation, baby."

I recently wrote this song, 'Love is a Negotiation, Baby.' When I wrote it, I thought about how sometimes, between couples, a little war arises – a silent struggle that makes us ask where the love has gone, and how it is that we are fighting with the one who was closest to us. This song was written about those moments when it seems like love becomes an exhausting negotiation, until all that is left of our hearts are just remnants. Now, when the real war is raging outside, I feel how this conflict resonates even more strongly. These words describe exactly how it feels – like dreams sailing in the clouds, like broken hearts looking for a safe place. And maybe right now, amidst all the fear and pain, we can find moments of silence, to remember what was once strong and beautiful between us. True love may not have to be a war or a negotiation. Maybe, amidst everything that is happening, it will find its way back.
